Mateusz Pospieszalski EMPE3

Mateusz Pospieszalski, born 1965, comes from a large musical family. Being one of the top Polish saxophone players and a multi-instrumentalist (he plays woodwind instruments, keyboards and percussion) he is also a singer gifted with an intriguing and charismatic voice, a composer, an arranger, and a musical producer.

He has participated in over a hundred different productions across the Polish music industry.

He is notable for his over 20-years long activity in the "Voo Voo" band (one of the top Polish musical groups), as well as a co-originator of a legendary Polish jazz band the "Tie Break".

He used to play and record jointly with musical celebrities coming either from Poland or abroad, notably Anna Maria Jopek, Stanisław Sojka, Martyna Jakubowicz, the "Raz Dwa Trzy" band, Gordon Haskel, and others.

Pieces arranged by him get played by top Polish and international artists; Dee Bridgewater, Nick Cave, Pat Metheny, or Nigel Kennedy to name but a few.

He also writes songs, composes music for feature and for animated films, for theatrical plays, as well as music for children.

He has produced several big musical projects for television, as well as records for Polish top artists.

His forthcoming project is named EMPE 3 and presents musical styles which range from folk, jazz or singing to free instrumental improvisation. This project proves especially vibrant at concerts, when it radiates with all its unusual energy and emotions. For this one Mateusz has asked his son Marek (a saxophone and a clarinet player) to join him, as well as his brother Marcin (double bass), Przemek Borowiecki (percussion instruments), and Lizavieta Szmidt (a special feature vocal). Mateusz himself is the project leader, playing saxophones and singing.
